Village Daily Life Hike

.............

This hike on paved and concrete roads takes you past a modern school and an exercise yard and playground and then starts off across a very large area of rice paddys. It is the longest hike of the set, at 5-6 miles RT, depending on the return route. We take you this way to show the enormous challenges of someone living in these villages in the past, wihout the benefit of a car or other transportation. This hike starts at the Honghaksa Monument. You can find directions by going to the Cultural Sights page and clicking on Honghaksa.

This hike is long and can be hot in the summer. Spring and Fall are the best times to start out. Early in the morning is best for a summer hike.

This hike takes you a long way into the rice paddys before you get to a village. It gives you a sense of the isolation of these rural hamlets and also you experience the way most residents traveled...on foot.
