Walk into the Past

.............

This walk starts in the city, right next to the Main Gate. Walk south and turn right at the Start off a lane, which makes a left turn in 100 ft.  Follow this lane and climb a small hill through an arbor of trees, emerging out on to a small neighborhood of older homes, some of which have the original wood and plaster construction.  The first area you come to on the right is a line of bee hives (at a safe distance), used to polilinate the nearby crops. Hay is still piled against houses, and here and there you can see the internal courtyards of the traditional compound houses. Walking on, a rice paddy road comes into view. A graveyard on a small hilll across this rice paddy is the final destination and a nice place to take a break and relax. Follow the same route on the return.

This walk has a small climb up a hill through the trees in the arbor. It then goes gently downhill and out on to a rice paddy. Spring and Fall are great times to do this walk, and early in the day in the Summer is good, but be sure and bring water with you.

Note the details in the construction of the older homes.
